2023 Accepted Juried Artists

Adam Adkison

Working from life gives energy and immediacy to art. The sun moving across the sky, the smell of autumn leaves, running water, dogs and kids playing, all these elements add to the work. I work from life as much as possible, the ability to incorporate the energy of my surroundings into art is energizing and fun. When looking at my work it’s my hope that these traces of life shine through the paint. I’ve been incredibly influenced by the art, music, and writing of others. It’s my hope that my work is inspiring and helps others carry this excitement into creative projects of their own, into their own life. To be part of this flow of creativity is one of the most humbling experiences of my life and I am ever grateful.

Janet Campbell

Janet Campbell has always had a love of art and nature. Her initial art education was in the Botanical Illustration Program at the Bronx Botanical Garden.   In the 1990s she fell in love with watercolor.  She has had many inspiring teachers and among them found Mel Stabin most helpful in her evolution.  Her paintings reflect a transparent and loose style.  Early watercolor experiences and plein air painting classes focused her on landscape painting.     Living on the Shawangunk Ridge and close to the Bashakill Wetlands in Sullivan County NY offers her rich subject material.  Along the way she expanded into figure work and the painting of shelter animals.  She developed a passion for color pouring with watercolors. Most recently she has been focused on plein air painting. In previous years, Janet was the chair of the Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival. She is currently the president of the Northeast Watercolor Society. https://jcamp2.wixsite.com/janet-campbell-art
