Our Mission
Wallkill River Center for the Arts’ mission is to enrich the community through art classes, year-round public art exhibits as well as music, literature, performance and cinematic events, embracing traditional and contemporary art and the living culture of the region. Additionally, we believe that art education is critical for developing creativity and thoughtfulness in our youth while maintaining engagement and involvement of our elder community. The organization was founded on, and remains committed to, the tradition of plein air painting, along with the appreciation of our local landscape and history which that practice engenders.
