Artist Statement:
In the quiet life of inanimate objects, seemingly still and motionless, lives a story or narrative that can create a connection to our home, family, friends, culture, or customs. It can elicit a visceral response that often invokes the senses. Weather looking at a painting of food, flowers, or the humble objects that surround our daily lives, we can find the subjective connection to a place, a time, or a moment. As life impatiently careens forward and we are increasingly connected (or disconnected) by the labyrinth of technology, painting the still life is a meditative process that connects me to the past, present and future through the contemplative interpretation of its meaning, its aesthetic form and its significance. This show, “Floral Impressions” is an expression of gratitude for the simple blessings and subtle beauty that exists in our everyday lives.
