Delight in creating an elegant watercolor card based on the Japanese principle of Wabi-Sabi.Using a muted palette and simple round and flat brushes, experiment with color fields that will serve as backdrops for your own dramatic effects. Tools like saranwrap, scotch tape and sponges will be employed to add depth and drama. This Zen art form will allow you to live in the moment.You will discover that you can make really beautiful mistakes that you’ll be proud to send to friends. Enjoy the experience while you sip some green tea. At the end you will will be surprised by your own ingenuity.

Monica A. Ostrow has been practicing commercial design and creative artmaking for more than 45 years in Orange County. A graduate of Wilkes University, and a student of the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, she co-founded Artists Alternative, a group devoted to non-traditional artistic methods and ideas.She has always chosen to explore unusal materials and techniques to apply to her practice.Her works have been exhibited throughout the hudson valley and she has won numerous awards.
