04/2025 Mixed Media & Collage with Jodi Doster

Mixed media will use a variety of techniques and mediums to create unique pieces of art. Students will learn the elements and principles of design to put together pieces of art that will include collage, drawing, and painting with various mediums. Different mediums will include drawing materials, acrylic, watercolor, ink, and tempera paint. Students will learn techniques to incorporate oil pastels, color pencils, markers, and drawing pencils into mixed media pieces. Class will include creating a mixed media painting on canvas. Utilizing painted papers using painting and gelli printing. These papers will be used as accents collage on their canvas and other pieces of mixed media drawings, painting or journal pages.
Class is for adults. Minimum 3 students.
Jodi Doster had been teaching science and art at Bristol Bay Borough Middle/High School in Nanek, Alaska for 18 years . She is also an Adjunct Professor for the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she teaches biology and art. Currently, Jodi has retired to the Montgomery NY area to continue teaching art at a slower pace. Her classes can loosely be described as controlled chaos, giving everyone the opportunity to make art their own way.
