Color My World: Watercolors by Ellen Joyce-Trayer
Artist Statement
These works are Experimental Watercolors which I’ve been working on this past decade. It is a form of deconstruction….breaking through edges and form to distort reality. The paint can be dripped, splashed, splattered, glazed, brushed or pulled on the paper surface. The paper is often manipulated to direct the flow of the paint. Since the results are not always in the artist’s control, the artist must abandon control and be open to take creative detours as the painting reveals itself.
Ultimately, it is about creating a successful painting which often means the artist must allow the painting and the paint to inform the final creation.
