Solo exhibition artists Sarah Fortner and Janine Lambers will participate in a conversation about their respective painting practices together with moderator Jen Dragon at the Wallkill River Center for the Arts on Saturday, June 13, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.
ABOUT SARAH FORTNER: A multidisciplinary artist and arts administrator residing in Orange County, New York, Sarah Fortners is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area,where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley. She relocated to New York City to pursue a Master of Fine Arts at Hunter College. Since 2008, Fortner has been based in Orange County, New York, where she founded the Washingtonville Artist Collective in 2014. From 2018 to 2024, she served as Executive Director of the Wallkill River Center for the Arts, a nonprofit arts organization in Montgomery, NY. She currently serves as Chair of the Kurt Seligmann Art Committee at the Seligmann Center in Sugar Loaf, NY and works as a grant writer for SUNY Orange in Middletown, NY.
ABOUT JANINE LAMBERS: Born in Germany, Janine Lambers works from her studio in Beacon, NY. Trained under the auspices of the German Guild Academy she graduated as a gilder and during the course of her career developed into an artist. Combining craftsmanship and poetics, Janine Lambers is inspired by the natural world and the reflective properties of metal leaf. An exhibiting artist, Lambers also works on commissions such as an 18ft gilded wall mural for a private super yacht and triptychs to national and international clientele.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR: For over 35 years, Jen Dragon has been involved with art, artists, and the arts community as a curator, gallerist, art writer, exhibitions strategist, and art advisor. Ms. Dragon has participated in numerous community-based arts programs, including events associated with the Walkway Over the Hudson opening ceremonies, and curation for International Sculpture Day, Saugerties (2017 -19), Kaatsbaan Cultural Park (2021-23), Byrdcliffe Biennial Sculpture Park at the Woodstock Spa (2025), and co-curator for the 2026 Woodstock Artist Association & Museum Sculpture Park. Jen Dragon’s latest curatorial projects are currently installed at Castello 925 Gallery in Venice, Italy, during the 61st Venice Biennale season.
The WRCA galleries are free and open to the public.
