SUMMARY:08/2025 Beginning Watercolor with Stephanie Snyder
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, 10am-12pm \nAugust 3\, 10\, 17\, 24th \n$120 ($100 Members) ($90 to skip beginners day) \n  \nThe first day of the months’ session is for anyone who is just starting out or needs more guidance. I would recommend that you attend if you’re a first time student of this class! \n\nThis beginning watercolor class will be focused on producing finished work.  I have noticed that I have learned best when following along painting with an artist\, so that is the approach this class will follow. We will produce a finished painting each week with a different subject\, and returning students are welcomed.  The approach will be to paint fast and loose\, to cover the basics of watercolor by doing them\, and hopefully to have some fun. The first day is for beginners who need to learn the starting techniques and the materials.\n\nIn the event of wonderful weather\, this class may go outside to paint! Be sure to bring sunscreen\, a sunhat\, or other item to protect you and make you comfortable.\n\n\nStephanie Snyder began painting in watercolor in 2022 at the Wallkill River Center for the Arts under the instruction of Alan Lewis. She enjoys painting landscapes in an impressionistic style\, and paints as often as her teaching career allows. She lists her influences as Alan Lewis\, Dusan Djukaric\, JMW Turner\, and Stanley Donwood.\n\nStudents will bring their own supplies.\nMinimum 3 Students.\n \n\n\n\nPaper- I would recommend Strathmore 300 (or better but a little more expensive 400) series\, cold press paper.\nBrushes – A beginner kit might have 1 #10 round\, one smaller brush for detail\, and one larger flat or map brush of about an inch. It is nice to have some different sizes\, but you don’t need expensive brushes to start.\nPaint – Avoid chalky mediums like Reeves. Tubes will be easier to work with than pans.\nPalette – A watercolor palette has many wells for your paint and space to mix colors.\nOther – Not really necessary in this class\, but will be useful at home- A hairdryer\, painters tape\, paper towels\, etc.\n\n\nREFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY

SUMMARY:André Junget: Drawings
DESCRIPTION:André Junget: Drawings \nPen and ink is my favorite medium. The idea of creating value with an ink line has always fascinated me. In my view\, nothing else compares to it. Beginning with first seeing the wood engravings of Gustave Doré\, then the British and American book illustrators of the Golden Age of Illustration\, I was hooked! \nI began my career illustrating architecture and products in pen and ink. Working at architecture firms brought me into pencil work. Which I love\, but it’s not ink! I have always claimed that if I could work in one medium for the rest of my life\, it would be pen and ink. \nSo\, I decided to stop talking about it and started a new collection of ink on scratchboard drawings of subjects that excite me! Many of the pieces in this exhibition are from this new collection. \n– André Junget \n  \nAbout the artist: \nAndré Junget: Fine Art drawings\, hand-pulled stone lithographs\, and scratch board works. \nAndré Junget maintains a residence and studio in Beacon\, NY. His work has been featured in numerous books\, magazines\, and other publications and is included in the collections of many interior design and architectural firms. His work offers a rare glimpse into the captivating world of hand-drawn illustration – what he refers to as “the way it used to be.” \nA classic illustrator\, he is a traditionalist with a “twist\,” his work is modern but gives a nod to the past\, reminiscent of great masters including Franklin Booth\, Herbert Railton\, Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue\, William Heath Robinson\, Robert Henri\, and the Ashcan School. \nSelf-taught\, André began his career as a tool and die maker in the Space and Aircraft industry. He later went on to teach perspective at the Institute for the Study of Classical Architecture and has served as illustrator-in-residence at prestigious architectural firms\, including Ferguson and Shamamian\, Hart Howerton\, Roman and Williams\, and GRADE\, NY. \nHis work has been honored with Awards of Excellence from the American Society of Architectural Illustrators\, and was elected to the Society of Illustrators through the support and sponsorship of world-renowned illustrator and educator Murray Tinkelman. In 2017\, Andre was elected into the International Society of Scratchboard Artists and the Pastel Society of America in 2019. \nAndre has begun building a portfolio of fine art prints with Jim Reed\, Master Printmaker at the prestigious Milestone Graphics Studio in Bridgeport\, CT\, creating hand-pulled stone lithograph prints. He continues his work in printmaking with Irene Michnicki at the new Milestone Graphics Studio in New Haven. His hand-pulled stone lithograph print “Fire Escape 1” resides in the permanent collection of the Slater Memorial Museum and Print Club of Albany. \n\nAndré Junget: Drawings | on view July 11 – August 31\, 2025\nGallery hours: Friday – Sunday\, 1 – 5 pm and by appointment \nReception and Meet the Artist | Saturday\, July 12 from 5 – 7 pm\nLight refreshments will be served. SUMMARY:Theresa Gooby: Uncanny Garden
DESCRIPTION:Theresa Gooby: Uncanny Garden explores themes of growth\, transformation\, mystery\, identity and absurdity. In this series of works on paper\, nature and the human connection to the natural world are forefront. These figures in this show challenge the dominant narrative of identity\, allowing elements of the natural world to embody representations of the self. Long held beliefs of traditional propriety are directly at odds with the unstoppable creep of nature. At the same time\, nature is being propelled by the invisible hand of civilization. The characters in Uncanny Garden wink at the viewer\, but Absurdity should not be mistaken for folly. We are living in a time that asks us to accept highly preposterous situations as the norm and we will all have to figure out a way to exist between the two. \n\nTheresa Gooby holds a BFA from the Univ. of New Mexico and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. She is the recipient of a 2024 Individual Artist Commission from the NY Statewide Community Regrant Program. In 2020 she received a Dutchess County Executive Award for Artivist of the Year. Among the places her work has been shown are the Samuel L. Dorsky Museum of Art in New Paltz NY\, the Woskob Family Gallery State College PA\, the Puffin Foundation of Teaneck NJ\, and Metro Pictures in NYC. She is the founder and former Director of Beacon Open Studios. Theresa grew up in California and lives in Beacon NY with her family. \n  \nTheresa Gooby: Uncanny Garden | on view July 11 – August 31\, 2025\nGallery hours: Friday – Sunday\, 12 – 5 pm and by appointment \nReception and Meet the Artist | Saturday\, July 12 from 5 – 7 pm\nLight refreshments will be served. SUMMARY:07/2025 Beginning Watercolor with Stephanie Snyder
DESCRIPTION:Sundays\, 10am-12pm \nJuly 6\, 13\, 20\, 27th \n$120 ($100 Members) ($90 to skip beginners day) \n  \nThe first day of the months’ session is for anyone who is just starting out or needs more guidance.
