DESCRIPTION:Friday evening\, July 24h \n6:30 – 8:30 pm \n$40 without materials\, $60 with all materials supplied \n  \nFor absolute beginners or oil painters who need a refresher and some renewed courage. \nTopics covered will include: materials\, pigments\, brushes\, solvents\, basic color mixing\, paint application\, how to start a painting. All the basic principles of oil painting with hands on practice. \n  \nMaterials can be supplied for an additional fee when registering and includes everything you need for the class including canvas; everyone else is expected to have all the materials on the materials list. \nNOTE: supplied materials will be water mixable oils\, not the traditional solvent based process. \n  \nMaterials List:\nOil Painting Set up for beginners. SUMMARY:Fun with Fiber: Stitching\, Felting and Weaving with Jenny Torino
DESCRIPTION:Monday – Friday\, July 27 – 31 \n10 am – 12 noon \nGrades 2 – 6 \n$135 per student \n  \nJoin us for Fun with Fiber where students will discover stitching\, felting and weaving while creating their own unique fiber works during the week’s art projects. \n\nSession 1: Scrappy Plush Monster Hand Sewing Project \nLearn hand sewing skills and design a custom monster plush with fabrics scraps of fun textures and colors. Learn how to thread a sewing needle\, straight stitch\, whip stitch and sew buttons. Leave with a cute plushie. \nSession 2:  Felt Pennants \nAre you a fan of a band\, sports team\, school or town and want to express your creativity? Make a triangular felt pennant to decorate your walls by creating lettering\, a color scheme and pictures. Then cut your design from flat felt sheets and put your pennant together. You will design lettering and pictures then learn how to lay it out and attach to your pennant. \nSession 3: Wet Felt and watercolor Geodes \nGeodes are rocks that are plain on the outside and contain beautiful crystals and colors on the inside. We are going to make Geodes out felt sheets wool through a process called wet felting. You will learn all about where wool comes from\, what you can make with it. Next create a large watercolor geode using torn paper\, ink and watercolor. \nSession 4 and 5: Woven Dream Catchers \nLearn how to weave in the round with colorful yarns. Add hanging strings\, beads and feathers to make it a dream catcher. \n  \n \nAbout Jenny Torino: \nI am an interdisciplinary artist that primarily uses fibers such as felting wool\, textiles and paper to create felt sculptures and interactive spaces. I focus on the living ecosystem and patterns in nature that often get overlooked. I allow myself to work slowly\, leading to hyperfocus on shape\, form and color. DESCRIPTION:Monday – Friday\, July 27 – 31 \n1 – 3 pm \nGrades 7 – 12 \n$135 per student \n  \nJoin us for Wearable Art: Fiber Focus for where students will discover stitching\, felting and weaving while creating their own unique wearable art during the week’s art projects. \n\nClasses 1-2: Needle Felted Patches\nTurn wool fiber into pictures then turn those pictures into patches you can add to jackets or tote bags. Needle felting is a craft where you sculpt loose wool fibers in to dense 3D or 2D designs using a special barbed needle. Bring images of your original characters\, inspiration from a favorite anime or fun\, simple designs.\n\nClasses 3-4: Wet Felted Jewelry\nCreate necklaces and bracelets using wool\, yarn and beads while learning the skill of wet felting. During the process of wet felting combine colorful wool\, soap and water to make beads and bracelet cuffs. Then decorate with stitching and jewelry beads.\n\nClass 5: Refashion Class\nChoose an old T shirt\, Flannel shirt\, jean jacket or jeans from home and make it exciting to wear again by embroidering or needle felting designs on it. Learn how to transfer your own drawings to fabric and turn them into embroidered or needle felting images on your clothing. DESCRIPTION:Monday – Friday\, July 27 – 31 \n1 – 3 pm \nGrades 7-12 \n$135 per student \n  \nWild Layers is a 5-day immersive studio workshop for teens (grades 7–12) exploring watercolor\, botanical printing\, and mixed media collage using natural materials. Students will experiment with plant matter\, organic textures\, and layered composition while developing foundational watercolor techniques and contemporary collage strategies. \nWorking with leaves\, flowers\, stems\, found papers\, and handmade prints\, participants will learn how to combine observation and abstraction to create richly layered artworks inspired by the natural world. SUMMARY:Oil Painting with William Noonan | Aug. 2026
DESCRIPTION:Saturday mornings\, 9:30 am – 12 pm \nAugust 1\, 8\, 15 \n$120\, $105 for Members \n  \nFor beginner\, intermediate\, and advanced students. The instructor’s main medium is oils but any painting medium is welcome in this class. \nStudents are encouraged to follow their own stylistic inclinations while learning and practicing the basic rules of: drawing & painting techniques\, composition\, value\, color mixing\, color theory\, materials and supplies\, etc. \nSubject matter will range and include still life\, landscape\, portrait and figure. Whenever feasible students will work from life\, other times photographic references may be used.  Students may also use this class as an independent-study opportunity and work on their own personal projects. \nAll sessions will be live work sessions. A lecture or demo may be included based on the particular subject matter for that month’s focus. Students will create both functional items—such as cups\, plates\, jars\, and vases—and nonfunctional pieces including critter pots. Decorative finishing methods\, including carving\, sculpting\, and sprig slabs\, will be taught\, along with final decoration using underglaze. \nAll completed works will be fired in the instructor’s kiln\, then clear glazed. Finished pieces may be collected at the art center upon completion. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday mornings\, 9 am – 12 pm \nAugust\, 4\, 11\, 18\, 25 \n$160\, $140 Members \nLocation: Winding Hills Park \nStudents will learn all the fundamentals of how to create beautiful paintings outdoors. Using a limited palette\, students will learn how to simplify the vast landscape and capture the important aspects of a scene to create a successful plein air painting. All mediums welcome\, instructor specializes in acrylic. \nStudents will bring their own supplies. You are advised to wear sun and bug protection for outdoor classes. Make sure you drink water and seek shade on hot days. \n  \nNancy Reed Jones is an award winning artist\, receiving the Champion of the Arts award from the Orange County Arts Council as well as several other awards. She studied oil painting at the Huntington Arts Council on Long Island. Running her own mural business for many years\, special projects include murals in the Vanderbilt homes on Long Island and murals for cancer patients in hospitals which were also used for art therapy. She came to live in the Hudson Valley in 2004 and joined the Wallkill River School of Art where she now teaches acrylic workshops and plein air painting. Darts and Blasters will be provided\, but you’re free to bring your own if they take standard darts. DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth Keithline: Puzzle\nAugust 22 – September 27\, 2026 \n\nArtist Elizabeth Keithline presents Puzzle\, a solo exhibition of assemblage artworks using found paint and materials. \nPuzzle is a follow-up to Breaking Broken\, Keithline’s previous solo show\, which explored human tendencies toward self-destruction and fragmentation. Puzzle pivots to examine how people create system of order out of chaos\, how they solve problems and navigate life’s challenges.  \nThe show continues Keithline’s longstanding exploration of human self-extension through systems such as architecture\, technology\, cars\, and the modern built environment—especially as these systems relate to the natural world. \nIn addition to her solo show\, Keithline will jury a companion exhibition in WRCA’s main galleries titled Keep It Together\, featuring assemblage-based artwork that conveys a material and conceptual sense of solving and/or coping. \n  \nAbout the artist:\nElizabeth Keithline has been a weaver since the age of 14. In 1996\, she pioneered a unique sculpture technique: weaving heavy-gauge wire around large objects and then burning them out. Her artistic practice now includes painting\, public art\, and installation work. Keithline is fascinated by abstraction—how far ideas can stretch\, how many multiples of a single thought can be expressed\, and how viewers engage with abstraction as they perceive an idea and then carry it away with them. \nPuzzle marks Keithline’s 23rd solo exhibition and Keep It Together will be her 23rd juried or curated group show. To reserve your seat\, register by purchasing a FREE ticket – at bottom of event page. \n  \n\n____________ \nAbout the performers:   \n \n  \nDANIEL PIMENTEL – Guitarist and Composer \nDaniel began playing guitar at the age of 12 in Jalisco and later received formal training with maestro Fernando Martínez Peralta in 1999.  In Spain\, he studied in 2001\, 2002\, and 2006 with notable masters such as Manolo Sanlúcar\, José Antonio Rodríguez\, Manolo Franco\, Paco Serrano\, Gerardo Núñez\, El Entri\, Pedro Sierra\, José Luis Rodríguez\, Juan Carlos Romero\, and Antonio Rey. \nThroughout his career\, he has trained in various styles of music including jazz\, classical\, and Mexican. \n  \nCOMPOSITIONS \nFor Flamencos Unidos company of the teacher and singer Lucero Hernández\, Daniel wrote and played a tribute to Federico García Lorca\, El Cristo Andaluz\, Bodas de Sangre\, and “Gitanos en persecusión”.  \nHe has also toured and performed with companies such as María Elena Ayala\, El Club España directed by La Morris\, Marién Luévano\, Caña y Candela of Lourdes Lecona and Lina Ravines\, 1 Compás por México directed by Erika Suárez\, among others. \nDISCOGRAPHY – Recordings: \nAires de flamenco (2002)\, La primer gota de lluvia ( 2003)\,  Lléname de ti ( 2006)\,  Gitana (2007)\, Mi mundo Mi sentir (2009)\,  A mi aire (2010)\, Sentimiento Flamenco (2017) \nCOLABORATIONS WITH ARTISTS \nFlamenco artists such as Karen Lugo\, Marién Luévano\, Karime Amaya\, Joe Lovano\, María Elena Anaya\, La Morris\, Sabas Santos\, Lucero Hernández\, Fernando Martínez\, Las Cabales de Guadalajara\, Fernando Soto\, María Juncal\, José Maya\, Juañares\, Antonio Rey\, Leo y Juan Treviño\, Erika Suarez\, among many others; as well as artists from other musical genres such as Juan Gabriel and María José. \nJazz Collaborations in the USA: Daniel began to collaborate with Judi Silvano in her “Flamenco Meets Jazz” double-trio concert at the Newburgh Free Library in 2015.   Then in 2019\, they joined forces again for a special concert at The Falcon in Marlboro NY with Judi Silvano and Joe Lovano’s Quintet\, featuring original compositions and the music of Paco Lucia\, Miles Davis and Jazz improvisations. \n  \nPLACES WHERE HE HAS PERFORMED (As a soloist or accompanied) \nIn México: Palacio de Bellas Artes\, Auditorio Nacional\, Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris\, Sala Miguel Covarrubias\, Teatro Degollado de Guadalajara\, Teatro Ricardo Castro de Durango\, and in cities like Monterrey\, Tampico\, Pachuca\, Mazatlán\, Aguascalientes\, León\, Guanajuato\, Veracruz\, Puebla\, Paracho\, Acapulco\, etc.  \nTours:  New York City\, Hudson River Valley of NY\, Chicago\, in South America: Quito\, Ecuador\, in Europe: Luxemburg and in Spain: Madrid\, Toledo\, and Gandía. \n  \nNATALIA DE ARAGON – Flamenco Dancer and Cajon \nNatalia graduated from the National School of Dance “Nellie y Gloria Campobello” of the National Institute of Fine Arts. She received her training from renowned dance masters in Mexico such as María Elena Anaya\, Gabriel Blanco\, Silvia Martín\, Paloma Macías\, and Olinka Trueba\, among others.  \nAfter completing her studies at the institution\, she was invited to join the teaching staff\, where she taught Stylized Dance and Stage Practices to students of the Bachelor of Spanish Dance program at the National School of Dance. \nThroughout her training\, she has taken various courses in both Spanish dance and flamenco with distinguished masters including Guadalupe Gómez (principal dancer at the Madrid Conservatory)\, “La Choni”\, Manuel Reyes\, Mariano Bernal\, Ángeles Gabaldón\, Daniel Doña\, Ana Lopéz\, “La Truco”\, and Antonio Rodríguez “El Chupete”\, among others.  \nIn 2012\, she attended a course at the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville\, Spain\, where she studied “bata de cola” and mantón with teacher Milagros Menjibar\, and technique with Maribel Ramos. \nNatalia is an accomplished Dancer and Actress who has cultivated the theatrical presentation of the passionate and historical artform that is Flamenco dance. \n  \n  \nALFONSO CID – Flamenco Singer and Flute \nHis mother and grandfather were his earliest influences. He attended classes at the prestigious Torres-Macarena Flamenco social club in Seville starting in 1987.  \nAlfonso also studied solfege singing and flute at the Seville Music Conservatory and was awarded two scholarships to study at the Cristina Heeren Foundation for Flamenco Art in Seville\, Spain.  \n  \nHe has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall\, Lincoln Center Out of Doors\, Town Hall\, London’s Royal Albert Hall\, Sala Covarrubias in Mexico City.
