SUMMARY:Painted Papers and Printmaking with Jodi Doster
DESCRIPTION:Friday Evening\, 5:30 – 8:30 pm \nJanuary 16th \nAges 16+ \n$50 \nThis painted paper printmaking night introduces a range of techniques and materials\, including gelli plate printing\, and various textures and mediums in the printmaking processes. Participants will work with gelli plates to produce multi-layered\, colorful\, and textured monoprints. All materials and instructions will be laid out for participants to jump in and start making color full papers and prints.  We will apply essential methods such as paint application\, utilizing textural tools\, and creating images with stencils\, stamps\, and botanicals—all achievable without a large press set and ready to go. \nThe night will explore an array of printmaking papers and tools that can be incorporated into mixed media projects\, collage\, card making\, and art notebooks. \n  \nThere is no material list – class includes all materials. \n This class is suitable for people aged 16+ since we will be using sharp cutting tools. \n  \n \n \nMy name is Jodi Doster and I spent 21 years teaching science and art at Bristol Bay Borough Middle/High School in Naknek\, Alaska. I also was an Adjunct Professor for the University of Alaska Fairbanks BBC teaching biology and many art classes including watercolor\, drawing\, and ceramics. My teaching philosophy is a hands-on approach utilizing demonstration then working alongside students to create original pieces. I find working alongside students while discussing my process and thoughts helps students if they are stuck. I provide guidance to help students with learning new techniques and developing their own style. I am influenced by science and nature in my own artwork. I love color and have been inspired by the impressionism artists. I have been so inspired by them that I even named my dog Monet after one of my favorite impressionists! \nREFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY \n

SUMMARY:Painted Papers and Printmaking with Jodi Doster
DESCRIPTION:Saturday mornings\, 10:30 am – 1 pm \nSeptember 6\, 12\, 20 \nAges 16+ \n$130\, $115 Members (includes materials fee) \nThis painted paper printmaking course introduces a range of techniques and materials\, including gelli plate printing\, linoleum cuts\, and various other printmaking processes. Participants will work with gelli plates to produce multi-layered\, colorful\, and textured monoprints. The curriculum covers essential methods such as paint application\, utilizing textural tools\, and creating images with stencils\, stamps\, and botanicals—all achievable without a large press. \nThe fundamentals of linoleum cut printmaking are also addressed\, emphasizing the significance of positive and negative space in print design. Students will sketch their concepts\, transfer them to printing blocks for carving\, and use a variety of sources for inspiration. Techniques include carving into soft linoleum\, impressing designs onto Styrofoam or foam board\, and transferring images to different surfaces using ink or paint. \nAdditionally\, students may explore styles such as Andy Warhol’s by employing two or three linoleum blocks\, working with both positive and negative carvings\, or applying the multiple block method. The use of colored inks and acrylic paints\, combined with registration techniques\, ensures precise and vibrant results. The course further explores an array of printmaking techniques and tools that can be incorporated into mixed media projects\, collage\, card making\, and art notebooks. I share this joy and knowledge with the students\, and they feel the creative energy with me! \n  \nSummer 2025 Welcome\, Check in & Procedures \nSummer 2025 Scholarship Form \nREFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY

I enjoy mixed-media collage and use paint\, paper\, fabric\, fibers\, resin\, wood and clay in my work as well. SUMMARY:10/05/2024 Intro to Printmaking Workshop with Jodi Doster
DESCRIPTION:October 5th \n1pm – 6pm \nAges 16+ \n$150\, $130 Members \nLearn the basics of printmaking in this afternoon workshop! Discover the importance of positive and negative space when designing your print. Sketch your designs and transfer them to your printing block for carving. This class is suitable for people aged 16+ since we will be using sharp cutting tools. \nIn printmaking\, students will make copies of an image that they have created from various sources of their choosing. They will then transfer the image and use carving on soft linoleum blocks or impressing the design in styrofoam\, or foam board and transfer the image onto a new surface. Students will use ink or paint to transfer images. Students will create an Andy Warhol style print using two to three linoleum cuts positive and negative carvings or multiple block method. Colored inks will be used when printing by utilizing a registration method. We will cover the different techniques and tools used to create prints including gelli-plates to create prints that can be used for collage\, card making\, and art notebooks. \nIncludes all materials. \n \n \nMy name is Jodi Doster and I spent 21 years teaching science and art at Bristol Bay Borough Middle/High School in Naknek\, Alaska.
